Announcing the PM18 Scholarship, and revealing the 28 Day Challenge winners

Greetings PM Family,

Today is National Cereal Day! We would be (Grape) Nuts if we didn’t get some Kix by celebrating a Special (K) group of people! Too cheesy? No, we don’t like cheese on our cereal.

Getting to it, today we are pleased to share with you the winners of the first 28 Day Podcast Movement Challenge. If you are not familiar with what this is then we encourage you to check it out here.

The 28 Day Podcast Movement Challenge

The 28 Day Challenge was created to help aspiring podcasters, who had for whatever reason not been able to get their podcasts live, launch their show and embrace the podcaster Life-style during the month of February.

The challenge participants are from literally around the world, and represent a wide variety of backgrounds. Podcast Movement offered 5 fabulous prizes as incentive to anyone who launched their podcast during the challenge, released at least one episode in February, and completed the daily Action Items in the private Facebook community.

We were blown away that 240 people signed up for the challenge, and almost all of them started taking the steps necessary to one day get their podcasts live. Of those 240 who started, 24 of them made it to the finish line and launched their podcast in less than a month!

Announcing the PM18 Scholarship

Podcast Movement was created so that the entire podcast community, worldwide, would have the opportunity to come together each year as a place to call their own. Over the last 5 years we have received hundreds of emails from new and aspiring podcasters who really wanted to attend Podcast Movement, but discovered it too late or were not in a position financially to make it happen.

Podcast Movement is proud to offer an opportunity that has not been available in the prior years. To make the conference more welcoming to new community members, we’re offering a limited number of scholarships to PM18 for upstart podcasters.

What is it and what does it include?

The scholarship is for a Standard Plus pass to Podcast Movement 2018 in Philadelphia, PA from July 23 to July 26. It does not include hotel or transportation, and the pass is not transferable.

Who is eligible?

Brand new, or not yet launch, podcasters who LOVE podcasting and APPRECIATE this community. You must complete the application and have never attended Podcast Movement before. You must also be an active member of the Podcast Movement Community Facebook group.

Who is not eligible?

The scholarships are for podcasters who have never attended a Podcast Movement before, have not yet signed up for PM18, and are not in a position to attend the conference without assistance.

How can I apply?

Get Cracklin! Please complete the online application by April 15, 2018. Podcast Movement will announce the winners in the April 25 edition of the newsletter and in our Facebook group. No Trix

Things You Should… (aka Clusters)

“Alexa, play Live365.” How does a podcaster get to be where Live365 is – on Alexa? Voxmatic has launched a free platform for podcasters to get a personal Skill on Alexa. This enables podcasters to reach more listeners by reserving their brand on Alexa with a voice-controlled Skill or Flash Briefing by Voxmatic.

Listen to
PM17 Keynote Speaker Shannon Cason has a new podcast called The Trouble. It is an entertaining show, but also great to listen to for possible ideas on how you can continue to try new things with your episodes.

TuneIn Is hosting The 2018 SXSW Podcast Stage: Live from Austin, March 10–15. Can’t make it to Austin? They are livestreaming from the podcast stage on TuneIn, so you can listen at home, at work, or on your smart home device. No. Tickets. Necessary. The stage will feature many PM alumni, including The Nod, Dan Taberski from Missing Richard Simmons, Payne Lindsay from Up and Vanished, and many more familiar faces.

Plan On
Podcast Movement Community Meetup in Las Vegas – Please save the date for the Las Vegas community meetup on Tuesday, April 10. We are also participating at the NAB show which we mentioned in a past newsletter. Please check that out if you haven’t already, and make plans to hang out in LV.
