Merry and Bright: PM Evolutions Speaker Announcements

Greetings PM Family,

It's hard to believe that we passed the halfway point for December! We've used a holiday theme each week so far. We mentioned the Elf on a Shelf last week. We received a reply from one of our Jewish community members and learned about Mensch on a Bench, which appeared on Shark Tank a while back! Check it out, it might be right for you and your family!

We are enjoying the holiday spirit and hope you & your family are as well. We will put less of a focus on the holidays for this week's newsletter. However, we still intend to bring good tidings of comfort and joy (or at least we think so) with our announcement for the first round of speakers at PM Evolutions this February! We will also share some highlights from the PodMov Daily newsletter, discuss the latest episode of Podcast Movement Sessions, and include some essential community updates!

Let's get this newsletter version of a sled movin'!

Podcast Movement is excited to share with you the first round of speakers selected for the inaugural PM Evolutions event this February 12 – 15, 2020, in Los Angeles at the Millennium Biltmore! The PodMov Daily newsletter makes Monday through Friday “Merry and Bright.”

DID YOU KNOW: The PodMov Ambassador program allows you to earn rewards that Granny may not ordinarily spend on a holiday gift for you. Rewards are earned by simply sharing the newsletter with your friends! #Easy

This past Monday’s guest article is from Doug Fraser, creator of the documentary podcast series What We Do and co-host of the upcoming Curious State University. Fraser is a copywriter and filmmaker with a distinct flair for engaging storytelling.

“Being a documentary filmmaker has taught me a few things about podcasting that will hopefully help you on your journey,” Fraser writes. Using detailed examples, he explains the three core exercises that lead his creative problem-solving process.

When it comes to cross-media creative strategies, Fraser sees the bigger picture: “From honing the pitch of your series to boiling down what each episode is really about, every step of the way comes with its own challenges and rewards.”

Last Friday’s guest article from podcast journalist and creator Wil Williams is all about going the extra mile. “If you have the time and resources, supplementary material can be a great way to improve your SEO and enhance your listeners’ experiences,” Williams explains.

Providing examples and describing the processes step-by-step, Williams offers a straightforward guide to building up bonus content. Whether your additions are blog posts, photos, alternate storylines, or GIFs, your audience will appreciate the effort.

“The love of the subject matter always comes through — and if you’re reading this, I’m guessing you have the same love for what your podcast is about.”

Episode 4 is Now Available!

For episode four of the season, we're taking a long look at Audio Narrative Dos and Don'ts.

Episode 4 of Podcast Movement Sessions is all about the True Crime genre. Listen to some of the field's hardest-hitters, like Justin Ling of Undercover: The Village, talk about how they crafted award-winning audio narrative podcasts.

Season four of Podcast Movement Sessions is sponsored by Storyblocks! A fantastic resource for all your stock footage, AE templates, SFX, and music bed needs.

Better Results than Mistletoe: PM community updates!

“People are longing to rediscover true community. We have had enough of loneliness, independence, and competition.” – Jean Vanier

The PM family is a beautiful community! We are not just a community, but a family that is doing our best to help everyone take their podcasting aspirations to the next level. Here are some ways for you to interact with everyone!

  • The 28 Day Launch Your Podcast Challenge Returns on January 1 – Podcast Movement is excited to partner with Acast to bring back this FREE challenge next month. Acast Open has its podcast production offerings available to any brand or publisher wanting to start a podcast. Acast Open includes three subscription models — Starter, Influencer, and Ace — that come with different levels of support and analytics. The 28 Day Launch challenge is perfect for anyone that is wanting to start their podcast and could benefit from a set of daily steps that go from zero to launch in 28 days. It also offers a private community setting for encouragement and support from members of the PM team and fellow students that are also going through the process. Did we mention that it is completely free?

“The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.” – Alice Morse Earle

You can find many variations of the quote mentioned above, but the premise is a beautiful thought to consider. It is easy to get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of this season that we can lose sight of the present and how precious and priceless it is. We encourage you to love your families, neighbors, and podcast listeners the best you can today! Happy Holidays from all of the Podcast Movement family.

That's the Jingle Bell Rock,
Team PM

P.S. We announce more sessions speakers for Evolutions next week!

Bad Holiday Joke:
Q: “Why didn’t Rudolph get a good report card?”
A: “Because he went down in History.”
