It’s prom season, and these new speakers, plus childcare at PM19, make us want to dance!

Prom, More Speaker Announcements, Industry/Community Updates and Child Care at PM19

Greetings PM Family,

It is that time of year for the high school prom! Podcasting can be like the prom. It can be exciting, it can be nerve-wracking wondering if you will get the response that you are looking for, and it can be full of memories with fellow community members and friends.

Podcast Movement does not have a prom at the conference (although we have the best parties in podcasting), but that will not stop us from allowing a semi-formal dance version of this week’s newsletter. We’ll to cover additional speaker announcements, industry/community updates and great news about childcare at PM19!

So whether you have a date or plan to go stag, let’s grab a glass from the punchbowl and hit the dance floor!

The Prom Committee: PM19 Speaker Selections

We have another great list of speakers to announce this week! While we won’t be officially crowning the Queen and King, we think this week’s newest additions all deserve consideration for the court.

Special recognition goes out to Aaron Mahnke of the hit podcast Lore, who returns this year to lead two sessions across two days, Patrick Hinds of the very popular True Crime Obsessed, and the entire team from Multitude and their member shows, who will be participating in a number of sessions and a special live performance.

And the Podcast Movement Prom would not be complete without Aimee Joshua (Chasing Dreams), Damona Hoffman (Host/Producer, Dates & Mates), Delania Barbee (Founder & Host, Practicing while Black), Gordon Firemark (Author of The Podcast, Blog, & New Media Producers’ Legal Survival Guide), Heather Osgood (True Native Media), Jereshia Hawk (CEO, High Ticket Sales Coach, JereshiaHawk.com), Jon Street (Resonate Recordings), Korri Kolesa (Art 19), Lex Friedman (Art 19), Maggie McGuire (Pinna), Pete Mockaitis (Host, How to Be Awesome At Your Job), Rich Jones (Paychecks and Balances), Rob Kirkpatrick (Focus on the Family), Sara Wendel (Sound Editor/Mixer, Astonishing Legends) and Tonya Rapley (Founder, My Fab Finance/ TonyaRapley.com)!

Podcast Movement Speakers

We still have many speakers to announce in the coming weeks, and cannot wait to continue to share more!

Don’t Forget the Corsage: Industry and Community Updates

  • When to use an external microphone or recorder to make your podcasts – An article by William Gallagher – You can record your podcast on your iPhone, but what you might not be able to do so easily is make sure that the audio sounds good. Buying a broadcast-quality microphone or a separate audio recorder can bring your podcasting up a level, and there is some hardware that we like.

  • 5 Ways to Improve Your Podcast Listener’s Experience- An article by Wil Williams – When podcasters think about ways to get more listeners, their mind usually jumps to things like marketing and advertising. Podcasters might be willing to spend great deals of money to get better numbers for their podcast when really, what’s most helpful is free things you can do to improve your listener’s experience.

  • How to Build a Compelling World in Your Fiction Podcast –An Article by Lindsay Eanet – Lindsay spoke with podcasters from three very different shows   who take listeners to three very different places. These creators shared their strategies for creating memorable, immersive environments in the worlds of their podcasts.

Time to Get in the Limo (Childcare is ready to rock at PM19)

Podcast Movement is proud to be a conference that supports parents by providing child care services during the event. We kicked this off last year, and this year we’re excited to partner with the team at A Helping Hand again for 2019.

A Helping Hand will be providing onsite event childcare for Podcast Movement 2019 on August 13, 2019 – August 16, 2019!

A Helping Hand is asking that everyone “Pre-Register” their children for the event, to ensure a smooth and time-saving check in process. You can find out all about it at www.PodcastMovement.com/childcare.

Event Pre-Registration for childcare will close at 11:59pm on August 6, 2019, so please be sure to pre-register your children as soon as possible!

Questions prior to registering? Email [email protected]for more information!

Prom season is a time to celebrate. We hope that even if an upcoming prom is not on your schedule, that you and someone close to you can plan something special, dress up for the occasion and enjoy! Your hard work on your podcast and community can handle a short break for you to spend quality time with your loved ones.

Have some fun,
Team PM
