PM20 Change of Dates Announcement

Greetings PM Family,

We've had a lot of questions about the status of our flagship event: Podcast Movement 2020 in Dallas. We have the latest information available below. Please do not skip this portion of the newsletter!

PM20 Change of Dates: October 19 – 22, 2020

To the Podcast Movement family: 

In continuing to prioritize the safety and health of our attendees, sponsors, speakers, and staff, we have made the difficult decision to postpone Podcast Movement 2020 from August to October. The new dates for PM20 are Monday, October 19 through Thursday, October 22. 

We hope that this is a welcome change for many of you, but are fully aware that it will be an unfortunate one for others, so we wanted to share with you why this decision is necessary after several weeks of serious discussion and consideration. 

• We feel that August is too soon to hold the event safely. Even if cities and states were open for events by then, which is far from certain, we would not feel comfortable asking our speakers, sponsors, or attendees to travel to us until later.

• The October dates give us an additional two months to monitor the containment and confirm that we can safely host the event. If, as the new date approaches, we feel as if we cannot do this, we will cancel the conference before putting anyone in harm's way.

• Why have we chosen to try our best to have the event postponed versus outright canceling? That's a great question!
  
  It's taken this long to come to a decision primarily because we've been carefully evaluating all options. We've spoken with members of the community, and they've let us know the importance of Podcast Movement staying on the books for them in 2020. We've learned that they see PM as something that is a contributor to the industry as a whole, not only from an education and training perspective, but as a vehicle that helps move podcasting forward.
  
  We've hosted the event every year since 2014 to do just that, and we feel like we owe it to those who've put their faith in us those 6+ years to give it our best shot at continuing the movement.

To those who have already registered, we sincerely want to thank you for your patience and understanding while we've been working with the Hilton Anatole to identify and secure these new dates. As a result, we are excited to give you something to look forward to later this year, and we hope you can join us to celebrate podcasting this October! Of course, if that's not the case, we want you to know your options.

Those who have already registered will receive an email explaining the following possibilities:

1. Transfer your registration to the new Podcast Movement 2020 dates, October 19-22, 2020.
   
   
2. Convert your in-person pass to a PM20 virtual pass, which will feature an expanded lineup of live-streamed sessions, virtual-only events and activities, a virtual expo hall, and more.
   
   
3. Transfer your registration to Podcast Movement 2021, August 3-6, 2021.

We are sensitive to the fact that you may not be ready to make your decision yet. To allow plenty of time for you and for us to plan, we ask that you communicate your choice to us no later than July 1, 2020. If we do not receive your response by July 1, 2020, we will automatically transfer your registration to the new Podcast Movement 2020 dates, October 19-22, 2020.

For those of you who booked your hotel rooms through the Podcast Movement hotel block at the Hilton Anatole, you will receive an email confirmation of your reservation cancelation later today. The card you provided for the initial room reservation has no charge, but if for any reason you were charged, please notify us. To book or re-book your room for the new dates, you can do it now by clicking the button below.

Podcast Movement continues our dedication to giving you an experience unlike any other. This global pandemic has been severe for everyone worldwide, and we understand that each of us is facing unique struggles and hardships. In the coming weeks, we will be announcing some exciting news and updates, not only about October's event but also about other things we'll be doing in the months leading up to it. 

Please understand that our intention with this announcement is to be safe, sensitive, and transparent. We hope to bring cheer and excitement to the community, and to give you something to look forward to between now and October.
