Greetings PM Family,
Thank you for being flexible regarding the delay in the weekly newsletter. Our team had all hands on deck for the PM University virtual kick-off event! Today's newsletter will provide a summary of the virtual event and remind you to sign up for PM University if you haven't already (free to join)!
PM University's Kick-Off event did not disappoint! We were fortunate to have tremendous support from the community and from our presenters.
You are welcome to check out the sessions via PM University if you were not able to join us live this past Tuesday. The “minute to win it” games with Matt Marr is worth viewing if you need a good laugh. SHIFT also had breaks with live music from DJ Richy Smart as well as a Yoga stretching break courtesy of Danielle D'Souza. The event closed out with a virtual party thanks to Shindig.
Here is a short recap from the SHIFT presentations:
Renay Richardson of Broccoli Content & Noleca Radway of Domino Sound discussed Equality in Audio Production and how podcasters, both large and small, can improve representation in their shows.
Now, more than ever, it's important to have a solid plan for recording remotely, whether it's with an interview guest or cohosts. Jody Mayberry shared tools, tips, and tricks on how to excel, no matter the distance between you and your counterparts!
Noreen Alladina of Stitcher presented their Pandemic Listening Stats and discussed what we can learn from changed listening behavior now, and in the future.
Jamila Souffrant of Journey to Launch & Stephen Hart of Trailblazers.fm discussed how to use your podcast's platform to promote causes you believe in and current events, even when it might not at first appear to relate to your podcast's normal topic.
Gabriel Soto of Edison Research & Martina Castro of Adonde Media presented the Latino Podcast Listener Report, and discuss how podcasters can use this data to grow their podcast and expand their reach.
Keith Reynolds of Spoke Media hosted a fireside chat about how their production company has found ways to advocate and promote social goals, while still continuing to educate and entertain their audiences.
We encourage you to view the sessions at PM University!
The University is open and free to join! We shared some important details about this in our newsletter recently. You are welcome to check that out here.
The Podcast Movement Facebook Community now has over 40,000 members! Please share your latest podcast episode in the comments of this celebratory post.
We have some updates regarding PM20 coming soon! Thank you for your patience and support.
Grateful,
Team PM
