Greetings PM Family,
What podcast platform did the turkey want his listeners to use to check out his show? Google, Google, Google.
We figured we would start off this week's newsletter with a little humor…. a very little.
Thanksgiving, often called “Turkey Day,” is coming next week in the United States. While this year will look a little different in terms of being able to gather together, we still love this time of year. Thanksgiving always serves as a helpful reminder to show appreciation to those around us, and to be grateful for the many blessings and good fortunes that we have. 2020 has been a difficult year for all of us, but we continue to take time to remember to be thankful.
This week, we share some responses from the Podcast Movement Community on what they are thankful for about podcasting. We are also pleased to announce the upcoming Black Friday sale beginning next week for PM21 in Nashville in August!
We asked members of the PM community to share what they are thankful for as it relates to podcasting. Here are some of the answers that were shared:
“I'm very thankful for getting into Podcasting to be able to explore and find out so much more about local food in Alaska. How hard a lot of the farmers and producer are working on trying to improve our food situation.” – Mitchell Howell from the 49th Meal Podcast
“I founded a live community event almost 14 years ago that was interactive, informative, and story-based. Almost 4 years ago – live events suffered, so I finally gave in and started a podcast. My show grew from a San Francisco-based event with an international reputation into a podcast growing a global community. I fought podcasting. I didn't know what I was doing. But the essence of a good story is vulnerability, so I regularly tell my listeners I'm making it up as I go along. I wish I'd started sooner!” – Dixie De La Tour from Bawdy Storytelling
“My podcast is young (53 episodes). I am thankful for the opportunity to have interviewed and met so many incredible and talented people.” – Brad Friedman from The Digital Slice
“I'm thankful that the platform has given me a way to reach and inspire so many! As well as the opportunity to shine a light on people and projects that mainstream media overlooks!” – Chenese Lewis from The Chenese Lewis Show
“I'm thankful for the women in 56 countries and 1120 cities who tune in each week to hear inspiring stories of ancient women. I'm thankful that podcasting allows me to be heard in places I'll never visit, reach people I'll never meet, and impact lives in ways I'll never know. How cool is that?” – Sharon Wilharm from All God's Women
Please consider sharing what you appreciate about podcasting in the comments of the following PM Facebook group post. Note: You must be a member of the FB group to share… so if you're not in it, join it!
The World’s Largest Podcast Conference Returns
(both in-person and virtually)!
Every summer since 2014, Podcast Movement had gathered thousands of passionate podcasters and industry professionals from around the world under one roof to learn, grow professionally, and most importantly, evolve and improve the podcast community.
In 2020, the landscape changed for everyone, and the event was held virtually. However, we’re excited to be planning on returning to a “new normal” in 2021, including getting back together in-person again… and WE WANT YOU TO BE THERE!
If you're not able to join us in person or your plans change before the event, we'll be live-streaming a select number of stages for attendees to stream live. And all PLUS and PRO PASS holders will receive on-demand recordings of all sessions post-event!
NEXT WEEK WE'LL SHARE WITH YOU ALL THE BLACK FRIDAY SPECIAL DETAILS!
The holiday meetup is scheduled for Wednesday, December 9 at 2 pm ET. Please make plans to RSVP and join us!
We will be sending out an email next week regarding the PM21 sale for Black Friday. We encourage you to jump on the early bird pricing if possible. Thanks for being a part of this community. We appreciate your support! Happy Thanksgiving.
Grateful,
Team PM
