Long time no talk, Podcast Movement family…and happy Friday! We hope your October is off to a great start and that you’re gearing up for a successful final quarter of 2024.
Before diving in, we want to express our sincere support for everyone affected by the recent hurricanes in the Southeast. Many members of our community call that region home, and you’re all in our thoughts.
Now, onto this week’s updates!
We’re excited to be heading back to FinCon, the business event for money creators, where we'll be exhibiting for the 7th time later this month in Atlanta.
This year, we’re bringing even more value for podcasters. We’re teaming up with Tenderfoot TV and The Podcast Academy to host an “Ask the Podcast Experts” activation throughout the event.
Tenderfoot TV, based in Atlanta, is behind some of the world’s top podcasts, like Up and Vanished, Dear Alana, and Radio Rental. The Podcast Academy’s mission is to support podcast creators and elevate the cultural significance of the medium. During all three days of the FinCon Expo, October 24-26, team members from Tenderfoot and The Podcast Academy will be at our booth to answer questions, share their insights, and talk shop.
If you’re attending FinCon, be sure to stop by our booth and say “hi.” And if you’re a creator in the personal finance niche, there’s still time to grab your ticket. Check it out here!
Our 2024 events may be behind us, but we’re already gearing up for an even bigger year in 2025. First up is Evolutions in Chicago this spring!
For those unfamiliar, Evolutions is our annual conference focused on the changes shaping the podcast industry—covering the latest in technology, trends, research, and more.
Here’s a preview of what to expect in the Windy City:
With video content playing a growing role in podcasting, we’re debuting Video Village at Evolutions in Chicago. This new activation will feature demos, workshops, AMAs, and small group discussions, all centered around integrating video with podcasting. Whether you’re just starting with video or looking to enhance your existing setup, this is the perfect opportunity to learn more. Best of all, it’s open to all ticket holders!
Evolutions has become a key meeting point for podcast professionals and business leaders. This year, as we gather in the third-largest media market in the U.S., we’re introducing even more ways for industry players to connect, network, and learn from one another through Industry Connect. This area will be accessible to all Industry, Pro, and Platinum ticket types.
The heart and soul of our events, Podcast Movement Central, will once again host our keynotes, creator-focused panels, breakout sessions, and the bustling expo hall. It’s the place to meet fellow creators and podcast industry professionals from around the world.
Want to lead a breakout session or panel at Evolutions next spring? There’s about a month left to submit your ideas! We receive hundreds of submissions each year, so put your best foot forward and share your fresh perspectives with us.

Podcast Movement events are the ultimate destination for anyone passionate about podcasting. Whether you're a creator perfecting your voice or an industry professional shaping your future, our events provide the connections, knowledge, and inspiration to help you achieve your goals and make a lasting impact.
Our friends at the Signal Awards have just announced the finalists for the best podcasts of the year. Now, it’s your turn to vote for the Listener’s Choice Award! Voting is open through Thursday, October 17th—make your voice heard and help choose the people’s favorite podcasts.
There’s been a lot happening in the world of podcasting. Here are some top headlines from our friends at Podnews (we read it daily and highly recommend you do too!):
Ant Smith is the viral editor behind the video trailers for Steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO. Callum McDonnell breaks down Ant’s approach to the trailers and how they’ve driven a lot of the show’s success.
One year after putting (almost) all its podcasts behind a paywall, The Economist claims it has retained 80% of its listeners. Director of Podcasts John Shields speaks to Esther Kezia Thorpe about how the company hit 30,000 paid subscriptions in six months.
Podcasting’s deals this year are smarter and more sustainable, says Will Pearson of iHeartPodcasts. He was speaking with Julie-Anna Needham for Podnews, as part of a long-form analysis of this second wave of M&A activity.
Two million Australians listen to podcasts daily, according to a new survey: PodPoll 24, which will be fully revealed tomorrow. The data, from Deadset Studios and Insightfully, contains a lot of useful data about the types of show people want to hear.
The Podcasting Standards Project has issued an update on its work. The group is working on enhancing the “people” feature, which provides podcast credits, and a potential feature to mark shows produced by AI.
Want to share an actual episode, rather than just your show? Justin Jackson has written a guide.
We hope you found value in this update. If you did, please share it with a friend or colleague.
Until we meet again, don’t forget to check out our sister publication: The Noise Gate.
This space is designed to connect you with a more deeply creative podcasting experience.
Until Next Time,
